In the distant 2000, a group of enthusiasts came up with the idea of building a social center through which social welfare projects could be implemented.
The first and mega project of Diaconia Macedonia and of Miss Stone Centre – Strumica was the project called “Food on Wheels”. “Food on Wheels” provides meals for sick, disabled, old and socially marginalized families who are left alone and feed less regularly. The project started in 2001 and is still being implemented today.

The professional kitchen supported by Diakonia Macedonia and Miss Stone Centar – Strumica prepares the food which is packed in special packages that maintain heat and is transported to the homes of the beneficiaries. The menu is always made up of soup, main course and dessert. Currently, we have 180 people who are beneficiaries of this project, but there is also a long list of people waiting to be included.
In 2010, a new project was launched, quite popular in that period, due to the rapid development of computer technology. Seeing that persons with intellectual and physical disabilities are not able to access computers, the organization started the project “I can work on a computer too”.
The project encompasses persons with disabilities and empowers them to work with computers and use new technologies. Additionally a specialized textbook has been prepared in the project in order to help the beneficiaries master the material more easily, and also a specialized classroom is equipped for easier access to computers.
The organization also works on many other projects addressing the migrant crisis, providing care in the homes of elderly and frail persons, providing assistance in elementary disasters, construction and renovation of houses for the elderly, homeless and socially endangered persons, and implements a lot of other activities related to recycling used clothes.
The Humanitarian Association Diaconia has big motives and plans, and the organization continues to work in the social arena, where it is most needed.
